'A new lease of life'

Blackburn Buccaneer S.2B
Original: Oil on canvas 30" x 20" (not available).
This painting came about because of a request for me to submit two paintings into an aviation art exhibition with the theme of 'Aviation in the North-West'.
I'd wanted to paint the view looking down the runway at the nearby BAe Woodford airfield towards the Kinder Scout plateau for some time. I'd also been inspired by the low-level prowess and antics of the Blackburn Buccaneer (especially after being 'buzzed' by one from behind whilst driving through the A5 pass in Wales!). When I found out from Andrew Brooks (thank you Andrew) that Buccaneers were upgraded here in the late 1980s, the idea started to come together.
The 'Bucc' is shown here then in its element, shifting water from the runway at Woodford after a heavy shower.
This picture is now available as a limited edition print (see 'prints').
