Typhoon 1b of Wg Cdr 'Johnny' Baldwin, DSO,DFC. The original Typhoon is another aircraft that I've a soft spot for.
A brutish and potent-looking aircraft from most angles, I was after a softer, more evocative feel for this picture, hence the backlit scene with the rays coming through the clouds.
'Johnny' Baldwin was the top scoring Typhoon pilot of the war. His fate is an unsolved mystery, as he disappeared whilst flying F-86 Sabres in the 1950s Korean War, remaining 'Missing in Action'.
